People hate reading text on slides. Even worse - having those very words being read to them!

Nice article Scwhartzie! Small "nit" - the best presentations are built in "KEYNOTE" not "Powerpoint". In my humble opinion, Chiat/Day/LA set the standard for how to build a story-based, highly visual presentation. Everything from the fonts and font sizes, to the images and the brilliant "short copy" was scrutinized. The typical Chiat deck by itself was a piece of creative expression as much as the ideas it was selling. Slides had just enough image and copy to land the idea, but to fully build on it required the presenter to actually have something to say, and to say it with confidence and credibility. I was fortunate to be on a few pitches with you Rob, so my thanks for teaching me how to make my own presentations NOT SUCK!

Yes, yes. It’s “PowerPoint” meaning all presentations -- even those that are technically built on Keynote. I ❤️Keynote.

I SO hate Powerpoint. Powerpoint slides are what everyone expects, and what everyone hates looking at.

This topic is near and dear to my heart. I’m a big fan of taking over a wall to tape up printed out deck slides for a storytelling check. It’s not the most environmentally friendly approach, but it’ll quickly visualize whether your thoughts are organized, lacking or excessive.

Agreed 100%. Side by side is way more effective than slide after slide.
