All anyone wanted to talk about this week was next year.
So, I had the same two words for everyone: “hang on.”
Before you move forward you need to take a beat and look back.
I’m speaking to you. Right now take a beat, take your eyes off the screen here, look away and look back.
Take a look at all you accomplished this year.
Maybe you won a new piece of business. (I know one of my readers won four!)
Maybe you didn’t win, but you learned something.
Maybe you made something great. Maybe you made something good. Maybe you made something mediocre, but at least you made it.
Maybe you survived a bad boss.
Maybe you moved on a bad employee.
Maybe you did something good for your health.
Maybe you formed a new habit.
Maybe you stopped smoking. Or stopped drinking booze. Or gave up red meat or blue cheese.
Maybe you met someone.
Maybe you dumped someone.
Maybe you buried someone.
Maybe you went to some great places.
Maybe you read a great book.
Maybe you discovered a new artist.
A new restaurant.
A new podcast.
A new skill you never knew you were capable of.
I don’t know all that you did this year, only you do.
But before you plan out all the great things you’re going to do in the new year, see how far you’ve come this year.
Take a look back.
